Great merchandise coming back
It seems that even though unknowing people have moaned about the Trimingham merchandise in the local papers, the buyers obviously knew what they were doing and purchased great products for the store.
Today's Royal Gazette confirms our update to the 'Mac is back' story. Gibbons has got the M.A.C. range and will be putting it into the old Guerlain store on Front Street.
While we are talking about great merchandise that was sourced originally by Triminghams buyers, A.S.Coopers are advertising Portmeirion in today's RG.
We will see a lot more of the fine brands that were stocked by Trims appearing in other local businesses in the next few months.
It was the talents of Trims staff that bought, promoted and sold these names on the Island in the first place and created the local demand.

Ronnie Chameau's memories
I missed this article in the Mid Ocean on July 22nd. It tells about Ronnie Chameau's good times working for Triminghams and I think many of us can relate to her feelings.

Mac is back?
A story in today's RG says that A S Coopers have got the Estée Lauder account and hope to have their new fragrance and cosmetic section up and running in September or October. Talk on the street (not in the RG) is that two well known Trims fragrance people (AR & IS) will be joining them and that the location will be very, very close to where it was until July 23. There is also hope that MAC will be in there as well.
Let us know if you hear of any more developments.
I wanted to give a link to this story but the RG web site does not show it. A search for 'Coopers' shows no matches. Also, a search for 'Triminghams' shows no matches. This search is supposed to cover all stories since December 7, 2001. Perhaps now that they have lost their biggest advertiser, they have removed all reference to them!
Update 23 Aug It appears that MAC may not be part of the new Coopers operation as I hear that another big department store has got the rights to it. Stay tuned!

Triminghams necklace
We received this email from a former customer yesterday.
I have replied (in part) as follows:
Can anybody else out there help the customer?
Hi - I don't know enough about blogging to know best how to contact you - so I added a comment to your thanks to the Limey-guy and today I found the "contact us" link!
I recently lost my most favorite necklace that had come from Trimingham's some 25 years ago - ironically, just one week before the store actually closed! I think it was something that T's sold regularly. It was a gold coin with a wild boar on one side and a sailing ship on the other - about 1/2 inch in diameter.
I wondered if you all knew what has happened to the inventory - did it ALL get sold? Did another store buy some of it? Can you think of any way of tracking down? Do any of you recognize the pendant I've described?
I appreciate any response - even if it's negative. Thanks for thinking!

I have replied (in part) as follows:
Was the hog coin a 2 penny, 6 penny or 12 penny coin? Does it matter? All Trims inventory has been sold and today and tomorrow they are selling off the last of the office supplies. The coin shown on the left is from Crissons and you can see their web site at www.crissons.bm It is not as easy to get around as the Trimingham one used to be but it might be of some help. This coin is listed at $121.95 and is 14k gold
